Proof, by the front door.
A property actively managed by WattDodger heats itself on cheap, clean power and coasts through the expensive hours. The Certified mark makes that visible: a plaque with a QR code that takes a guest straight to a page about their stay, in this house.
How it works

The property qualifies
Its heat pump and hot water are under live WattDodger control, and it meets the criteria below.

You mount the plaque
A printed card by the door, the hot-water cupboard or the guest folder. It carries the property's own QR code.

A guest scans it
The code opens that property's page: what the house is doing, why it is already warm, and what it saves.

They understand the house
Instead of hunting for a thermostat, they see comfort, cost and carbon explained — and who to thank for it.
What the QR opens
A page about this house, not a brochure.
Every certified property gets its own permanent address — wattdodger.com/certified/<property> — and its own page. It names the property, states its modelled numbers, and explains the three things a guest actually cares about.
- Comfort. Why the house is warm on arrival and the hot water never runs cold.
- Cost. Why nothing is wasted heating an empty house or buying power at the worst hour.
- Environment. Why heating overnight and on solar takes cleaner electrons, and eases the evening peak.
Figures on each property page are modelled from that property's own measured thermal response — never copied between houses, and never presented as a guarantee.

Kererū Cottage
A 1920s cottage in Martinborough with an 18-hour thermal memory. Its guest page shows an 86% peak-avoidance figure, 74% solar self-consumption, and the buffer-tank trick that keeps the house warm while the cylinder reheats.
Criteria
What certification actually requires.
The mark is worth something only if it is hard to get for the wrong reasons. A property is Certified while — and only while — all of these hold.

| Under live control | The property's heat pump and hot-water cylinder are actively scheduled by WattDodger — not merely monitored. |
| A fitted thermal model | At least 30 days of measured data, enough to fit the building's free-cooling time constant and heating rate. |
| Genuine load shifting | The majority of the property's heating energy is bought outside peak periods, on night rate or its own solar. |
| Comfort held | Shifting load must not come out of the guest's comfort: the house is at temperature for occupancy, with hot water available. |
| Published transparently | The property's modelled figures, and the caveats on them, appear on its public guest page. |
| Reviewed annually | Certification lapses if the property leaves WattDodger control or stops meeting the criteria. |
